Men’s Issues
The thought of therapy is often daunting to men, and you may feel like there are things you are “supposed” to know but weren’t taught. Therapy can be a place to work through these thoughts as well as things like anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, life transitions, and anything else that may be keeping you from living the life you want and being the man you strive to be. Sometimes, men can feel more comfortable working with a male therapist through some of these sensitive issues, and I seek to create a comfortable an safe space for men to do that.
Porn/Sex Addiction
A porn or sex addiction is a compulsive habit that you can’t seem to stop with just willpower. It’s a struggle that may be ruining your relationships, finances, or even feel like it’s ruining your life. You’re not broken, but this is costing you the things you care about most. Usually, this is a coping mechanism to deal with some underlying struggle or trauma, and therapy with a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) can help you to get to the root of the issue and heal.
Religious Deconstruction
As we go through life, it’s common to look at what we believe and if it still aligns with your values. Often, this can include religious beliefs. The process of evaluating your religious beliefs can be a daunting and lonely process, but having a safe, unbiased space to work through this can make it feel much more manageable.
Religious Trauma or Cult Recovery
Sometimes, the religion that used to bring us peace and comfort doesn’t feel that way anymore. We may realize that our religious affiliations have actually caused us harm over time, leading to trauma that requires healing or we may have joined a group looking for belonging, only to discover later that it was a cult. It can be scary to realize that the beliefs and associations that have been foundational to our life have caused us harm. The certificate in religious trauma that I received allows me to have a deeper understanding of how to accompany you on this journey.
Trauma
Trauma can look and manifest in so many ways throughout our lives. Whether it’s a trauma that you’ve always known about but never worked through or something that you are just realizing, having a trauma-informed therapist makes a huge difference in going through this healing. Going at your pace, I am able to accompany you through this process so that you can move forward and live the life you imagine.
Neurodiversity
We all have different ways of seeing the world, and sometimes, that can mean you’re a neurodiverse individual with incredible things to offer the world. As a therapist, I view neurodiversity such as autism and ADHD not as something to be fixed. It’s how your brain processes the world around you, and working with a therapist who understands that without judgement or shame allows you to work through whatever it is you’re bringing to counseling.
Teens and Young Adults
The teenage and young adult years can bring unique struggles as you’re discovering who you are. Whether you’re struggling with one of the above areas or other challenges that come up during this part of life, I’m able to work together with you to navigate these difficulties in a confidential, judgement-free space.
